Annual General Meeting 7th June 2017

on Wednesday, 31 May 2017 19:00.

The Friends of Montgomery Street Park would like to invite you to our group's Annual General Meeting at 8pm on Wednesday 7th June at the RAF Club on Hillside Crescent.

The group has been active in promoting the regeneration of Montgomery Street Park for the past 9 years, during which time we have raised approximately £100k to invest in the park. This year in addition to our regular events we are planning a community fair in September.

Could you help with running events and fundraising for Montgomery Street Park?

Several of our current committee members are stepping down. Without new people coming forward to help, the Friends of Montgomery Street Park will struggle to continue. The time commitment we ask is only four meetings a year, plus whatever help you can offer at our litter-picks, planting, and Hallowe'en events throughout the year. It's a great way to give back to the local community and to meet your neighbours.

We would particularly like to encourage parents with younger children to get more involved. You might feel like you're already in the park every day after school or nursery, but that means you know what works and what doesn't, and what our next steps should be.

If you can't make it in person on the night but would like to get involved, you can send us a message via this website or our Facebook page. It is important that we have enough people at the meeting to form a quorum, so please do come along if you are able!

What does your park mean to you?

We've been asked to share this email from the National Federation of Parks and Greenspaces about the current funding crisis in our parks.

In particular, it contains a link to a survey which will be considered by the government inquiry into public parks in England (deadline 30th September). The findings may also be used by the Scottish Government, so please do respond, as an individual or as a group, and let them know why your park matters to you. Thanks!

Do you enjoy Montgomery Street Park? Do you have ideas for improvements to the Park? Do you just want to see what the "friends" group is all about? If you answered Yes! to any of these questions, and you could spare just a couple of hours every few months, then FoMSP would really value your involvement!  Please come along to the AGM or drop us a line via the Contact page, or Facebook.
