The Park as a Fringe Venue

on Thursday, 18 June 2009 12:59.

Montgomery Street Park will be a venue in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this year.

Mobile theatre company Eventertainia will be performing the Wizard of Oz in the Park from the 7th to the  31st August.

A percentage of the cost of leasing the land paid to the Council will be directed towards the park improvement project. One more reason to enjoy the show.

Tickets are already on sale. You can buy them at www.eventertainia.co.uk

on Wednesday, 01 April 2009 12:50.

Two nest boxes designed by artist Alec Finlay were installed in the park today.  The nest boxes feature poem clues on the names of common British birds. These nest boxes are part of a set that are being installed in parks around Britain and will be featured in a forthcoming book.

Let us know if you see the right birds nesting in the right boxes!

Spring Fun Day!!!

on Friday, 27 March 2009 13:55.

Thank you to everyone who took part in our 'Spring Fun' day.

Thank you to the 34 volunteers who defied the cold and wind to man stalls, drive vans, carry tables, rescue flying gazebos, clean paintbrushes, boil kettles, carry urns, serve teas, bake cakes, put up bunting, taste cakes, paint faces, blow up balloons, build frisbee targets, throw frisbees, paint bricks, donate prizes, take photos, ask questions, show off plans and did a whole myriad of other tasks that helped make the day...... and thank you to the 200 people who came to the park to take part.

We raised approximately five hundred pounds and had a lot of fun.

Nick Gardener’s website has great photos of the day. You can see them here www.leithandnorth.org.uk

Police Box Facelift

on Thursday, 26 March 2009 14:11.

The Friends of Montgomery Street Park commissioned local painter Gordon Walls to paint the police box at the entrance to the park. It looks fantastic, and really brightens up the approach to the park.

A big thank-you to Friends member Michael Davidson, aka Dr Frisbee, for organising the work.

You can read the Evening News article about it here
